  • We got this out of a “barn” so it does have some light surface rust from years of storage in a barn. It is the correct 32-3/4″ length with round wire coils. Fits:
    61-64 Corvair 1200 model, front drum
    36-70 Chevy cars w/drum brakes, exc. HI. performance
    53-62 Corvette
    54-63 Oldsmobile, exc. F85
    64 Oldsmobile D88 Police model
    65 Oldsmobile Police model exc. F85 and J88
    66-67 Oldsmobile 5600, 5800, 98, & Police w/HD suspension
    67 Oldsmobile 5200 Police model with HD suspension

    We also got 2 others along with this one but they do not have the GM sticker on them. We believe they too are also NOS but without the sticker we are only listing them as new. They are very straight and do not have any gaps between the coils (evidence they have never ben mounted)

  • Overall height – 1.823″.
  • Thickness of flange – 0.258″.
  • Diameter of shank above slot – 0.562″.
  • Diameter of shank below contact points – 0.595″.
  • Diameter of contact on flat surfaces – 0.616″.
  • Diameter of contact on opposite high points – 0.666″.
  • Shank does not have a groove below the points contact and the base flange.
  • On the flange surface adjacent to on of the spring pins is stamped “31”.

  • Diameter of contact on opposite high points – 0.670″.
  • Shank does not have a groove at the same height as the pins for the springs.
  • On the flange surface adjacent to on of the spring pins is stamped “63”.

  • Diameter of contact on opposite high points – 0.675″.
  • Shank has a groove at the same height as the spring pins.
  • On the flange surface adjacent to one of the spring pins is stamped “63”.

  • Strap is 1-5/8″ width
  • It has the round head part of the rivet on the top side of the strap.
  • End tab is rounded.
  • Has a 1″ x 7/8″ size indention next to the attaching tab.
  • This band is also used on folding top hydraulic motors for 49-54 GM cars.

  • This is the metal band that covers the openings on the radiator end of the 6V starter.
  • Correct 1-1/4″ width with the rivet heads on the outside of the strap (versus the rivet head being on the generator side).
  • End tab also has cut-outs.
  • These have been around for a long, long time, & have some surface scratches as well as some slight bends but; no crimps.
  • Once mounted, the bend will go away.
  • This band is also used on folding top hydraulic motors for 49-54 GM cars.
